EXEMPT POSITIONS – Working one of these leadership-level positions exempts the family from the point system and allows a first choice of positions the following year:
Swim Team Coordinator – Liaison between the club and the NASA and the other league team coordinators. Ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operations of the swim team, supervises the coaches, accounts for the swim team funds. Coordinates team pictures. Collaborates on a weekly communication to parents reporting meet results and information of importance. Significant off-season time commitment. Emcees the banquet. This position enjoys a second year of exemption after the year of service. 2011 – Elizabeth Piper
Parent Coordinator – organizes the swim meet workforce and supports the Swim Team Coordinator. Enforces rules concerning parent participation. Maintains work-assignment spreadsheets. Heir apparent to the STC position in the following year. Significant off-season time commitment.
Announcer - This person uses a bullhorn to announce the order of events. The event number, number of heats per event, etc., are all provided to the announcer. The announcer works closely and communicates with the deck managers. The announcer should avoid talking while the starter is giving commands to the swimmers. An example of announcer calls is as follows
- First call, event number and event description (i.e. “Event number 1, 6 & under girls free relay. Please report to the blocks”)
- After a short interval, repeat the above for the second call
- At the end of the second call, wait a short interval and give final call for the event
- The announcer should follow this procedure for all remaining events
- Try to stay 3 events ahead of the event in the water
Bullpen Coordinator – organizes, trains, and supervises the parents who work in the bullpen. Communicates frequently with parent workers during the season to secure a seamless start to meets and transition at mid-point. Responsible for bringing supplies to all meets and for pre-meet set-up of bullpen areas. Provides computer print-outs to parents in charge of the different age-groups. Heir apparent to the Parent Coordinator position in the following year.
Meet Photographers – Attends at least 3 meets, taking as many shots as possible and posts pictures to the club web site throughout the swim season. Organizes a slide show for the banquet. 2011 – Bruce Hedrick
Concessions Coordinators – Responsible for the food sales at all home meets. Organizes the cashiers, cooks and food purchases. Controls the food selection. The revenue from concessions fully funds the banquet. Significant time commitment during swim season.
Banquet Organizer – Organizes the year-end party within an established budget. Supervises parent workers who set up and clean up.
Marketing/Fundraising Coordinator – responsible for selling $600 worth of sponsorships for the team and supervising others’ marketing efforts. Can take the form of weekly email sponsorship, Concessions donations through gift cards, Kingsley Club website sponsorship - needs to be creative. This person supervises other parents who wish to raise funds for the team; each $100 raised will equate to 50 points.
Spirit Wear Organizer – Have spirit wear items created with the team/club logo. Set up a table at registration and at home meets to sell spirit wear. May supervise shift workers for 10 points/shift if needed. Must be ready to start work by the beginning of March 2008, ahead of the swim season, in order to have items ready for the season start.
Team Photographs – Take and develop a team picture and individual pictures and create the picture button and other gift items through a web-based development site. Must have a digital camera and a good eye for composition.
Computer Co-Coordinators – Attend 3-hour league training on the software program at Marist High School in the Spring. Responsible for bringing the computer and printer and the supplies to the meets. Work with coaches to generate pre-meet reports that are distributed to timers, bullpen workers and judges. Supervise workers who input event times and workers who print ribbons. Communicate meet data to league. 2011 – Lowry Thames and Lora Trent
Championship Meet Coordinator – Work with league representatives and coaches to register swimmers who swim in this post-season meet at Georgia Tech. Coordinate required parent workers at both days of the meet.
