Krista Gerstenlauer – Head Coach: Krista Gerstenlauer is originally from Savannah, GA, where she was a captain for The Savannah Country Day School swim team and also swam with GCAT. She graduated from Franklin and Marshall College after 16 years of swimming and stepped right onto deck to begin coaching. Her USA Swim Coaching experience includes the Aiken-Augusta Swim League and the MJCCA Sharks here in Georgia, as well as Pearl Harbor Aquatics and Hickam Hurricanes in Honolulu, Hawaii. Krista currently coaches for the Zaban year round swim team and is an Elementary School teacher. She is looking forward to a FUN and SUCCESSFUL summer season with Kingsley!
Andrew Hughey – Assistant Coach: Andrew Hughey grew up in the Lindmoor Woods neighborhood and swam there every summer for 14 years, and coached for three summers with them. He swam for druid hills high school, placing in the state meet, and was captain of the team. Andrew swam for Darton College for two years and also joined their dive team. Andrew began coaching with Krista and Carmen for the Zaban USA Swim team in the spring of 2008, continued coaching for the summer team, and has been a certified USA Swim coach for Zaban through the 2009-2010 swim season.
Cheri Matthews grew up in Snellville, GA where she swam for the Eastmont Cove Olympians summer league. She graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and is now an Elementary School teacher. Cheri currently coaches gymnastics year round for the MJCCA Aerials, and coaches cheerleading back home during the football season. With 18 years of cheerleading experience, she is excited to bring team spirit, animation, and enthusiasm to Kingsley.
Liz Shinn: Liz is a graduate of Wesleyan School and is returning to coach at Kingsley for her third season. This will be Liz’s 15th year diving for Kingsley and this year’s season was her 6th diving for Wesleyan. Liz had a successful dive season at Wesleyan this year where she captained the team while earning her third varsity letter and qualified for the state meet. For Kingsley last season, she placed 1st or 2nd in all 5 dual meets and 7th in the GADL league championship meet.
Ryan Brummer: Ryan recently completed his freshman year at Georgia Tech and is coming back to coach diving at Kingsley for his third year. He graduated from Padeia HS last May and had another successful diving season for his team. He did very well diving in our dual meets last season, placing first or second in every meet but one and ended up with a 10th place finish in the GADL league championship meet. This will be his last year of eligibility to dive for Kingsley but hopefully he will continue to return to coach our team.
Dr. Megan Neyer is the president of Total Performance Systems, Inc., a company that specializes in individual, team and organizational performance with businesses and athletic teams. Her work includes helping firms enhance performance and productivity, select and retain employees, as well as facilitating effective management and leadership development. The firm also consults on integrative medicine, wellness, ecological health care issues and sustainability.
Dr. Neyer has worked with executives, coaches and elite athletes for 20 years. She received her undergraduate and doctorate degrees with emphases in performance and health psychology from the University of Florida, and is a licensed and nationally certified counselor, as well as a trained mediator. She is a former world-class competitive diver whose accomplishments include being an Olympian on 3 and 10-meter, a World Springboard Champion, 15-time US Diving National Champion, 8-time SEC and NCAA champion, and multi-time international champion. She has more wins than any other diver in the history of the SEC and NCAA, and in 2006 was named NCAA Most Outstanding Diver of the last Quarter Century. In 1997, Megan was honored as a University of Florida Alumna of Outstanding Achievement, awarded to only 47 women of the 85,000 who have graduated from the University of Florida. She has been inducted into the University of Florida and International Swimming Halls of Fame.
